Why Service Your Boiler Before a Teesside Winter?
A boiler that has sat quietly through the summer is suddenly asked to run for hours every day once the cold sets in across Middlesbrough, Stockton and East Cleveland. That first long cold spell is when hidden problems show up. During Storm Boelo this October our emergency line was busy with boilers struggling under sustained use, and many breakdowns start as small faults that a routine service would pick up.
Most manufacturers also require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep your warranty valid, so a missed service can leave you paying for repairs that would otherwise be covered. Just as importantly, a service checks that your boiler is burning safely. A poorly maintained boiler can produce carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas you cannot see or smell, which is why we also recommend an audible carbon monoxide alarm in every home with a gas appliance.
Quick tip: the best time to book
Late summer and early autumn are the ideal time for a service, before the heating goes on full time. Call 07971 634609 to book a date that suits you.
Every service is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer and covers these key checks:
Visual & Component Inspection
We check the boiler casing, seals, controls and pipework for signs of corrosion, leaks or damage, and make sure the boiler is installed and ventilated correctly.
Flue Gas Analysis
Using a digital analyser, we measure the combustion gases to make sure your boiler is burning gas cleanly, safely and efficiently.
Pressure & Safety Valve Checks
We test the working gas pressure and system pressure, and check that the safety valves and shut-off devices are working correctly.
Internal Cleaning
We remove the casing to clean out dust and debris, inspect the main heat exchanger and burner, and clear the condensate trap where fitted.
